Experiences From Previous Students

I utilized Michael Koppy's well-equipped woodshop to build a unique cabinet to sit on a desk at my wife's business. Michael and his apprentice, Jason, allowed me to work as independently as I wanted and were readily available to provide instruction and assistance when needed. Michael was very accomodating by allowing me much flexibility as to when I could work on my project. Michael also programmed his CNC router table to create a large scale, 3D logo of my wife's business which turned out beautifully. I enjoyed working in Michael's woodshop. The experience and the quality of my cabinet exceeded expectations.

I worked in Michael's shop for two days. We built a beautiful night stand from walnut and bark pocket maple. I had some experience, but I wanted guidance building fine furniture. I learned a lot, including domino joinery, using a dovetail jig, and using a router table. I started with rough plans, and helped me finalize them. I made mistakes and he taught me how to fix them. The shop felt really relaxed, and he was easy to work with. His apprentice Jason was also really nice, and helped me as well. Overall I had a great experience, and recommend it to anyone starting out in woodworking. I ended up with a gorgeous piece of furniture, and have since built another one on my own. I'm thankful for the experience.
